CONTACT:Hanna Huang (hanna.huang@itasa.org)
ORGANIZATION(S):Taiwanese American Students Association (TASA); Pan-Asian American Network (PAAN)
INFORMATION: The theme and vision of the ITASA 2010 Midwest Conference is Round Up. Not only is the theme reflective of our Texan roots, but it encompasses how the Asian American community as well as the Taiwanese American community is comprised of a group of diverse individuals. By "rounding up" attendees for this conference, we hope to reach out not only to the active Midwest-Northeast, East Coast, and West Coast regions of the ITASA network, but to reach out to those interested in connecting with the Taiwanese American network in the Midwest-South as well. Our vision for this conference is to continue the tradition of fostering a community that is culturally aware and active in the Taiwanese American community.

Our Round Up theme will be visible in our conference workshops as well. In each of the three workshops, we aim to focus on the subcategories of Identity, Community, and Culture. In Identity, participants will explore what it means to be Taiwanese American in Asian America, in the United States, and in Taiwan. Community will focus more on the role Taiwanese Americans play in the local, national, and global communities. Last but not least, the Culture workshops will be a series of more interactive topics pertaining to Taiwan's unique culture, expressed through the Taiwanese language, food, and tradition.

Taiwanese Americans have without a doubt impacted their immediate and surrounding communities in a variety of ways. We want this conference to showcase how despite coming from different areas of the United States, we are all part of a Round Up of amazing individuals and leaders that continue to share, inspire, and communicate with each other well past our college years.
